STRIKE ACCORD is making Melody Green’s life changing, heart breaking and ultimately inspiring account of her life with Keith. Keith Green was only twenty-eight when he died, but he had already created a legacy of music and inspiration that would outlive him. On July 28th, 1982, a small plane crash tragically took the lives of Keith, his three year old son, two year old daughter, the pilot, and a ministry family of eight. After his 4th album release, “Songs for the Shepherd” in 1982, Keith booked a fall concert tour to challenge Christians to get out of their comfort zones and go out and meet the needs of a hurting world. He refused to become an idol or Christian celebrity. The notoriety Keith had always hungered for as a young man now became something he scorned. ![]() This message was a clear shot into the motives and hearts of those who were listening.Īs his audience grew, so did the fame. His musical popularity gave him a platform to speak a “No Compromise” message to a church where many had lost their passion for God and compassion for people. The music was fresh and driven by the shear force of Keith’s passionate vocals and gripping piano skills. Keith's first album, “For Him Who Has Ears to Hear,” shot to number one in the Contemporary Christian Music charts in 1977. Keith and Melody began writing music that mirrored their lives. At one point, they had taken in 70 people in need and housed them in 7 homes that Keith and Melody owned or rented, Keith was just 23 years old. They immediately began to take people into their home and care for the needy. ![]() Their lives made a radical shift when they found a faith in Jesus. At 19, Keith met and fell in love with Melody, a fellow seeker/songwriter and they continued their journey together. Like many of his generation, his journey initially led him into drugs, eastern mysticism, and free love. He started a journal that day which documented the musical and spiritual adventure he would be on for the next 13 years. Keith Green was 15 the first time he ran away from home.
